The Central York Panthers PeeWee Orange Crush hockey team raised money for the Town of Newmarket's first outdoor automated external defibrillator (AED), to help make the community cardiac safe. The 24/7 SaveStation AED Tower is located at Newmarket’s Riverwalk Commons.

Its installation was inspired by Raychel Gillis, a local teen who saved George Padanyi's life while scorekeeping a hockey game last Fall. Rachel says, it was towards the end of the game when she saw her father's teammate laying face down on the ice not moving. Her dad waved her over and she sprung into action; using an onsite AED and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Raychel has been helping teach CPR to the community with the Peewee Orange Crush team, in the hopes that more lives will be saved.
